Tony Ogden 1962 – 2006

UPDATE: Hm. Now I know why I had so many hits. Tony Ogden has died. He was obitted in The Independent by the fabulous John Robb two days ago. That is a big shame. He was a huge talent and should have been more recognised for his music. Here is a link to his obituary. Very sad. Big waste. Apparently cause of death is as yet unknown.

FURTHER UPDATE: For anyone who is interested – apparently Tony Ogden was found dead in a lake in Stockport near his mother’s house. There will be an inquest.

That’s a shame about Tony Ogden…that’s such a great cover!
I have just come here to ask if you would be a joint team leader with Robert. I hope you take up the challenge. I hope that you accept. The other team will probably have two leaders…and I thought you two made a natural partnership. Strength, humour, smut. That’s what we need.

Why not? Does that mean we can do things like say ‘I’m sorry – I’ll have to pass that to the other team’ and ‘fingers on buzzers please’?

Excellent. It will be on Tuesday eve at 8pm – so be there. It might all go pear-shaped. At the end of today, I have five rounds. So, it should be fun.

I posted a short Tony Ogden/Arthur Lee two-for-the-price-of-one obituary the other day to general indifference, so it’s nice to see that someone else appreciated World Of Twist. Very entertaining live, they were.

    (sorry, late comment)

I finally managed to track down a copy of Quality Street about 6 months ago after realising I missed it terribly and should never have left it with my ex-girlfriend in the early 90’s. Didn’t think anyone else in the world remembered them. Album still sounds great now. Very sad about Tony Ogden.

    Hi Lethe

Thanks for dropping by. Glad you managed to track the album down again. It’s just class isn’t it – I never tire of it. Terrible waste that Tony died – he was way ahead of his time and it was a shame he never really knew how much he was appreciated.

Such a tragic waste. A great talent and a really LOVELY bloke – always had time for us fans. Shared many a drink with Tony and the band, and Intastella. He never got over being screwed over by Virgin though and we lost touch.

His poor family.
