Cafe Del Nightmare very kindly gave me a book called Hair Metal the other day – it’s most amusing and I shall be posting up the utter worst of what lurks within it’s pages over the next few weeks – but for now – here are Manowar in all their glory. Nice boots. Baby oil anyone?

Ister – I inflicted a poodle perm on myself once in 1984. Horrendous. I ran to the nearest phone box and cried down the phone to my best friend to come and get me as I couldn’t face going home on the bus alone with everyone laughing at me. All my friends called me ‘poodlehead’ for at least a month. It was humiliating in the extreme. But bloody funny in hindsight.<br/><br/>Firsty – you WILL keep mentioning tits won’t you? Didn’t you learn your lesson after the ‘incident’ and mentions of soapytitwanks on your blog last week? Hmmm? Huh? Hey? XX

You gotta love (definitely not gay) Manowar. So taken was I with this inspirational album cover, that I popped over to manowar.com. Their biog, in particular, makes for excellent reading. It begins with the following quote from Joey DeMaio himself: <br/><br/>"I believe in the fans. I believe in metal more than anybody you’ve ever met. And another thing, I’m prepared to die for metal. Are you?"<br/><br/>Strong words, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Just checked out the book on Amazon. It says it’s American Hair Metal which reduces its appeal for me. I’m waiting for the new book on Black Metal culture, it’s due out soon!
Llewtrah – oh it’s worth a look – but I can lend it to you – it’s HILARIOUS. I’m sure the black metal book will be much more interesting. What exactly IS Black Metal – is that earbleed music?
